Dr. Terry O’Hara is a Licensed Psychologist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has over 20 years of experience working with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings. He also has extensive experience with diverse and challenging populations, including patients with dual diagnosis issues, personality disorders, conduct disordered children, sex offenders, and patients with major mental illness. For the past 18 years, Dr. O’Hara has focused his private practice upon forensic cases, and Dr. O’Hara has conducted over 10,000 evaluations during this time in dependency, delinquency, and custody divisions of Family Court in over fifteen counties in Pennsylvania. Dr. O’Hara has served as an expert witness on several hundred cases (approximately 900) in Civil and Criminal Court. Further, Dr. O’Hara conducts Risk Assessments for violence, Decertification Evaluations, Parenting Fitness and Capacity evaluations, Emotional Abuse evaluations, Termination of Parental Rights evaluations, Custody evaluations, Independent Medical Examinations, and Personal Injury Evaluations.
Dr. O’Hara has been featured on NBC, Essential Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Tribune Review and published an article on Bullying in the Pennsylvania Psychologist. Furthermore, Dr. O’Hara is a member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, the Child and Family Forensics Committee and the Interpersonal Violence Committee of the PPA, former Board member of the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Parental Capacity Evaluations
Family Court, CYF agencies, and attorneys are often needing guidance on parental fitness and capacity and if parents are able to provide minimally adequate parenting. These evaluations can also include Risk of Violence evaluations.
Custody Evaluations
This comprehensive evaluation can assist attorneys and Courts in determining the question of best interest for children.
Consultation to Attorneys
Dr. O’Hara can provide second opinions and critiques of other evaluators and assist attorneys with litigation support.
Decertification Evaluations and Delinquency Evaluations
Dr. O’Hara can conduct evaluations to determine amenability to treatment and potential juvenile transfer.
