About Dr. O’Hara
Dr. Terry O’Hara is a Licensed Psychologist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has over 20 years of experience working with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings. He also has extensive experience with diverse and challenging populations, including patients with dual diagnosis issues, personality disorders, conduct disordered children, sex offenders, and patients with major mental illness. For the past 18 years, Dr. O’Hara has focused his private practice upon forensic cases, and Dr. O’Hara has conducted over 10,000 evaluations during this time in dependency, delinquency, and custody divisions of Family Court in over fifteen counties in Pennsylvania.
Dr. O’Hara has served as an expert witness on several hundred cases (approximately 900) in Civil and Criminal Court. Further, Dr. O’Hara conducts Risk Assessments for violence, Decertification Evaluations, Parenting Fitness and Capacity evaluations, Emotional Abuse evaluations, Termination of Parental Rights evaluations, Custody evaluations, Independent Medical Examinations, Personal Injury Evaluations, and BHRS evaluations.
Dr. O’Hara provides consultation services on forensic and more general psychological matters to attorneys and businesses. Dr. O’Hara provides all forensic services himself, yet Dr. O’Hara is, at times, in need of part time assistance with an extremely busy practice. Evaluations are conducted ethically, promptly, and with consideration to the literature regarding relevant topics. Dr. O’Hara is also the consulting psychologist for Socialize Right, a growing social media consultation group.
In addition, Dr. O’Hara has extensive experience in academia, supervision, and presenting in a variety of settings. His research and dissertation focused upon bullying in children (See Blog). In the March issue of the Pennsylvania Psychologist, Dr. O’Hara’s article on bullying was published (Reflections on Bullying).
Dr. O’Hara maintains office locations in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, PA (main office) and in Downtown Greensburg, PA.

In graduate school, Dr. O’Hara received intensive forensic training at the highly regarded Ielase Institute of Forensic Psychology, which was one of the first clinics to offer specialized forensic services in Pittsburgh.
Publications
In May of 2017, Dr. O’Hara was featured on the NBC program, Comcast Newsmakers, to speak about bullying and social media.
On 5-26-16, Dr. O’Hara was featured on the radio show, Essential Pittsburgh, to discuss bullying, cyberbullying, and microaggression.
Recently, Dr. O’Hara was interviewed by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette regarding bullying.
Dr. O’Hara presented at the Pennsylvania Psychological Association conference in March, 2015 and at the National Defender Investigator Association’s National Conference in April, 2016.
Dr. O’Hara has also been interviewed by the Tribune Review.
